His construction company, M\u00e9sz\u00e1ros and M\u00e9sz\u00e1ros, purchased concrete elements and stones for a sewage project carried out a few years ago. The firm also bought products from a smaller Orb\u00e1n company called G\u00e1nt K\u0151 Ltd, company records showed.<\/p>\n
The rise M\u00e9sz\u00e1ros\u2019 companies and the Duna Group happened in 2013-2014, around the same time when Lajos Simicska, a former ally of Viktor Orb\u00e1n, was marginalized. After that, the companies of M\u00e9sz\u00e1ros and Sz\u00edjj kept on winning public construction projects, in many cases as consortium partners. They worked together, for example, on a water quality improvement project on the Great Plain of Hungary, and last year they won a tender for the construction of a new section of M8 highroad, worth 69 billion forints (214,6 million euros).<\/p>\n

They have both accumulated huge wealth thanks to state-financed projects. According to the latest list of Forbes Hungary, M\u00e9sz\u00e1ros is the country\u2019s 8th richest person, while Sz\u00edjj is the 9th. The total wealth of each of the businessmen reaches around 105 billion forints (326,6 million euros), Forbes calculated.<\/p>\n
No worries about the future<\/h3>\n
Not even close to this level, but the companies owned by father and two brothers of Orb\u00e1n also produced spectacular growth in recent years. Their three most important companies \u2013 Dolomit Ltd., G\u00e1nt K\u0151 Ltd, and freight company Neh\u00e9z K\u0151 Ltd. \u2013 produced a total income of close to 5 billion forints (15,5 million euros), which is almost twice as high as their turnover 5-6 years previously.\u00a0 <\/span>In the meantime, the family\u2019s private wealth also grew: in the past 3 years, the companies paid over 6 billion forints (18,6 million euros) in dividends, although a smaller part of this was paid to minority owners who are not related by blood to the Orb\u00e1n family.<\/p>\nIt seems that Gy\u0151z\u0151 Orb\u00e1n, the PM\u2019s father who plays a leading role in managing the family\u2019s companies, does not worry about the future of the companies. At a company assembly held this April, Dolomit Ltd. decided to pay 2,5 billion forints (7,8 million euros) in dividends, mostly from company savings accumulated in previous years. According to the minutes of the meeting, Gy\u0151z\u0151 Orb\u00e1n tried to reassure his business partners that the dividend payment would not endanger the solvency of the company.<\/p>\n
